LEIP! Intro 2026 has begun. Today, during Leisure Day in the Prinsentuin, the first new students got to know each other, the Netherlands, and, above all, their new college town, Leeuwarden.
Under a bright sun, the afternoon was all about getting to know one another. International students played traditional Dutch games together, enjoyed the music from the Prinsentuin concerts, and got to know students from all sorts of other countries.
For many of them, this is one of their first days in Leeuwarden. A new city, a new country, a new program, and above all, lots of new faces. That’s precisely why this first LEIP! Day isn’t about a packed schedule, but about connecting in a relaxed way and feeling welcome.
We asked a few students how they experienced their first day, what stood out most to them about Leeuwarden, and what they thought of the day.
“It’s a really nice place; you definitely fit in. Leeuwarden is nice.”

With the cozy Prinsentuin, beautiful weather, and plenty of new encounters, LEIP! Intro 2026 has kicked off. Over the coming weeks, more and more new and returning students will get to know everything that studying and living in Leeuwarden has to offer.
