The past week was all about getting acquainted, discovering, and connecting during the revamped LEIP! elements of the educational institutions' introduction week. The introduction period is over, and the academic year is now really getting started, with the return of thousands of senior students. 

Over the past few days, we have introduced new first-year students to everything Leeuwarden has to offer. Starting with the LEIP! Market on Monday, August 25, where all kinds of interesting and useful associations and companies presented themselves on Wilhelminaplein. This was followed by three mornings and afternoons (August 26, 27, and 28) in the Elfstedenhal. The hall (still without ice) was the playing field for the LEIP! Sports & Games Days. In collaboration with NHL Stenden and Van Hall Larenstein, students were given the opportunity to get to know each other and the city in a sporty and relaxed way. Together with Copini Buitensport, among others, we organized various active and exciting sports.

On August 28, we concluded the introduction week with the LEIP! Sing-a-Long on Gouverneursplein. From 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., students and residents sang along at the top of their lungs to well-known hits performed by the band The Night Flight and DJ Jorg. This festive evening was free to attend and brought students and residents of Leeuwarden together.

From September 1, 2025, it will be official: Leeuwarden will once again be a vibrant student city! More than 22,000 students, from vocational colleges to universities, will start their academic year in the Frisian capital. We are looking forward to September 11, when we will herald the start of the new academic year during the LEIP! Festival with all students in Leeuwarden.
